At birth, Raines was assigned to be a female child. As a youth, he attended the St Mary’s School, situated in Colchester, and further, for higher studies, the Colchester Sixth Form College. He has completed a master’s and Ph.D. in psychology from the very reputed University of Essex. He was awarded his doctoral degree in 2021.
